Scene: Vero's Pizza 'Among The Best in Town'

Cleveland Scene Magazine gave the new gelato and pizza restaurant in the Cedar Fairmount Business District a rave review.

Vero Bistro owner Marc-Aurele Buholzer said he's experimented with his specialty pizzas to get the pies just right since opening in June. "An airy, chewy outer edge blistered with char gives way to a thin, crisp inner crust supporting a few choice ingredients. The dough actually tastes delicious, as opposed to being merely a vehicle for heaps of toppings. Do yourself a favor and buy one pie per person; they are light, lovely, and disappear all too quickly," Scene wrote. Read the full review in Scene, and click here to read …

New Gelato And Pizza Shop Now Open in Former La Gelateria Space

Vero Bistro wants to bring Italian favorites back to the Cedar Fairmount Business District — with a new twist.

A popular pizza and gelato shop that closed last year has been replaced by a, well, pizza and gelato shop.  The owner, Cleveland Heights resident Marc-Auréle Buholzer, worked for La Gelateria in the Cedar Fairmount Business District off and on for many years. The experience inspired him to create his own store, and he opened Monday, June 11. “The community loved this place,” he said. But he says he offers something a little different. The restaurant, Vero, which means true or real in Italian, will stay open year-round, all the time. Buholzer, 28, has redecorated the interior to look more like a café or bistro and added more tables. He covered the light blue walls with olive and rust tones. He also serves a specific type of pizza — …
