CH-UH Athletes to Sign Letters of Intent

Heights High will host its own celebration for National Signing Day Wednesday

Students at Cleveland Heights High School will sign letters of intent Wednesday as part of National Signing Day, according to a press release issued by the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District. The celebration will start at 12:15 p.m. in the Heights High auditorium. Ten football players and one lacrosse player will sign letters of intent. National Signing Day is every year in February, when high school athletes who graduate in the spring can sign letters of intent with their desired colleges. Athletic Director Kristin Hughes, Head Football Coach Jeff Rotsky and Girls Head Lacrosse Coach Terry Saylor will speak during the event. Seidman, Gibson, Jones Among Tigers Headed to Regionals

Freshman makes personal best jump under pressure at district meet

When Cleveland Heights High School long jumper Hadly Seidman fouled on her first two attempts during the preliminary round of the district track meet at Mentor, she felt a distinct rush of panic. With one attempt remaining, the freshman gathered herself and flung her 6-foot-0 frame back into the sand and landed perhaps the biggest surprise result for the Tigers at the Jerome T. Osborne Sr. Stadium on Friday afternoon. Seidman posted a personal best of 15 feet, 9 inches to place fourth and earn a spot at the regional meet, which will be held Wednesday and Friday at Austintown Fitch High School. “I told myself that this was it.
