Week in Sports: Cleveland Heights' 4x200 Relay Team Takes Second at State

McShepard, Legget, Bounds and Gibson combine for high finish

The Cleveland Heights’ 4x200-meter relay team took second with a season-best time of 1 minute and 27.76 seconds at the OHSAA Division I Track and Field meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus on Saturday evening. Sophomore Marcus McShepard, senior Damon Legget, senior Ryan Bounds and sophomore Shelton Gibson were the members of the team that narrowly lost to a Thomas Worthington team that had a time of 1:27.42. Seidman, Gibson, Jones Among Tigers Headed to Regionals

Freshman makes personal best jump under pressure at district meet

With one attempt remaining, the freshman gathered herself and flung her 6-foot-0 frame back into the sand and landed perhaps the biggest surprise result for the Tigers at the Jerome T. Osborne Sr. Stadium on Friday afternoon. Seidman posted a personal best of 15 feet, 9 inches to place fourth and earn a spot at the regional meet, which will be held Wednesday and Friday at Austintown Fitch High School. “I told myself that this was it. And if I didn’t do it now, then there wasn’t ever going to be a second shot. I guess it worked. I think all the …

A Tigers defender received two yellow cards against Shaker Heights April 14, which under Ohio Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association rules merely knocks a player from that game, but under U.S. Lacrosse rules suspends a player for the following game. After the Shaker Heights game, the Tigers used the player against Western Reserve Academy the next day on April 15, and in two games against Mason and Lake Forest, IL, on Saturday, before realizing the difference between the two governing bodies' rules the following Monday, said  coach …
