Someone wrote me about all teachers being more or less equal. They don't remember the good ones, Really? I do, especially the ones that spent time with me when I was struggling! Not all teachers have a passion for their profession. Their passion is all the goodies they get undeserved. These are not union members in a widget factory, this is our children's education. We need great teachers, not just ones showing up to collect a check. Strongsville teachers need to work in a really Excellent school system.....to see what its about 179th out of 700 school systems is not Excellent. And yes, Excellent teachers should get more pay...its a by product of desired behavior. Some of you working in Union la la land could never understand that.

This is just extortion on the part of the Teachers. They are using the children as pawns for more money in a down economy where taxpayers can ill afford to support increases to very well paid teachers. Also, all this talk about Excellence from the Strongsville teachers? Out of the 700+ Ohio school systems, Strongsville is ranked 179th! Solon, Rocky River, Chagrin Falls and other area school systems blow Strongsville out of the water! I guess they feel if you're not a bad school system, you're Excellent! Lets not even talk about their over the top benefits, 1/2 a year work days or pensions. Pay the top teachers more, take if from the mediocre and poor teachers. This isn't an auto assembly plant, we need the BEST teachers teaching our kids.

Your right Shelly, Most UNIONIZED professions like cops and fireman are loaded with freeloaders, and thieves of every kind. The KEY word is UNIONIZED, were you basically have to kill someone to get fired. If you're a good teacher, my hats is off to you. If your one of the ones that get the same high pay for just showing up, not challenging your students, they for the more then full time pay for 9 months a year and all the days off, of course you don't want any ACCOUNTABILITY for the skills to teach our young. Sorry you don't like public scrutiny but welcome to the real world! It seems some teachers would rather just collect their fat paychecks and tell the parents and school board how things will be. Yes, this is how many of us parents see the union and the teachers they protect from public accountability!

All those rights you mention were won long ago.......now its all about pure GREED! All Americans that work pay towards their health care, teachers feel they shouldn't have to! You feel fine having the taxpayers pay for your health care and bloated wages for part time work! When it comes to MONEY it reduces supposedly intelligent people to nothing but pure GREED.. Oh, but its for the children! Teachers need to pay 1/2 of your health care and stop getting paid just for showing up. You need to be evaluated for your teaching skills and let go if you can't cut it. After all its for THE CHILDREN! GREED is not Good...for anyone,,,

Teachers all cringe every time one of them is caught and its aired publicly. I have received emails in the past from teachers saying it should be kept private. This demonstrates the arrogance of teachers thinking that the bad apples in their profession are somehow exempt from public scrutiny.....pride comes before the fall.

You have to love Unions. This one tells the leaders how to run the citys business Please don't knuckle under to these free loading civil servants. As a resident, I don't pay taxes to let the fire department run the city.
