If you spend anytime on Facebook, you've probably seen one of your friends sharing a map that shows how people in different regions of the country pronounce different words. The maps are produced by Joshua Katz at NC State University, and they are fascinating.
The dialect project also breaks down how certain cities pronounce certain words, and one of the cities broken down is Cleveland Heights.
For example, most people in Cleveland Heights, 57.8 percent to be exact call the sweetened, carbonated beverage "pop." But a large chunk, nearly 30 percent, call it "soda." Another 12 percent or so call it either "soft drink" or "coke."
