Monticello Middle Principal Resigns

The principal of Monticello Middle School has resigned to take a job with another district.

District officials say input from parents will play a large role in selecting a new principal.

Brian Sharosky announced Tuesday that he will be stepping down from his role with the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District and accepting a position with the Brunswick City School District.

District officials said they are looking for help in finding the next Monticello leader. Officials plan to use a community survey to help identify the type of leader the school community is looking for. The district is also looking for parents to serve on the interview committee.

“Our District is committed to finding a new principal who will continue to build on the great work that Mr. Sharosky has done with the Monticello staff, students, and families to continue to transform Monticello into a New Tech Network School,” said CH-UH spokeswoman Angee Shaker.

Sharosky has served as principal in the District for eight years. He started at Roxboro Middle School in August, 2005 and moved to Monticello Middle School in 2010.

CH-UH Superintendent Douglas Heuer said Sharosky did a good job leading Monticello.

“Brian Sharosky was transferred to Monticello Middle School for the express purpose of improving that school’s student achievement levels," Heuer said. "In the short time Mr. Sharosky has been Principal at Monticello, the school’s Ohio Report Card has improved from ‘Academic Watch’ to ‘Effective.’

"I believe this provides clear evidence of the positive affect of Mr. Sharosky’s leadership. I want to thank him for his good work and wish him well in his new position,” he added.
