Cleveland Heights Women's Lacrosse Defeats Kent 18-10 (PHOTOS)
Kent Roosevelt Women's Lacrosse, with a regular season record of 14-2, loses by a score of 10-18 to the Cleveland Heights Tigers in the second round of the Division 1 playoffs Monday night.

Kent Roosevelt, with a halftime score of 7-9, appeared to be trading goals back and forth with the Cleveland Heights Tigers in the second round of the Division 1 women's lacrosse playoffs in Cleveland Monday night.
But that was only the first half.

In the second half, the Tigers went on to score nine more goals, while the Rough Riders scored three, making the final score 10-18.
"I think we played the best we could," said Head Coach Christy Mitchell, who was marking the end of her 12th women's lacrosse season at Kent. "We brought everything we had. We just lost control in the second half."

The Tigers' regular season record of 9-6-1 did not compete with Kent's 14-2 winning season going into Monday's game. But it still ended up being a great night for the Tigers, whose top scorer, Meg Lentz, tied the record for the most points in one game in Tiger women's lacrosse history, with nine goals and five assists. Monday’s game means the Tigers advance to play Hudson Thursday.
Kent co-captain, senior Hannah Schaefer (14), said the Tigers got momentum early in the second half, scoring three goals in the first four minutes. The Tigers also won 12 of 14 draw controls in the second half.
"That was hard to come back from," said Schaefer.
Kent points went to: seniors Shawney Hamilton (13) with three goals and one assist; Taylor Pensyl (3) with one goal; Kristen Maynard (9) with three goals; Kayla Latini (2) with two goals and two assists; Nuri Black (4) with one goal; and sophomore Brenna Zuranski (18) with one assist.
Mitchell said Monday’s game was especially heartbreaking because it would have been her 99th win. A successful matchup on Thursday would have given her a 100th win. Meanwhile, she said she’s proud that five of the eight seniors whose last high-school game was Monday, are going on to play college lacrosse.
